In our last episode we introduced all of you to the fresh new look that the weekly email has taken. We talked about all of the rich new features that allow us to communicate more directly with you and we showed you a picture a wild looking girl with tattoos - lots of comments about that picture. The three pictures shown above, are from an order that was placed this past week. Wine and flowers have never looked so good!  read more »

Review and Rating: ***+ $$$$ Paul Autard Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee La Cote Ronde, 2005, France

Review: The Paul Autard Chateauneuf du Pape La Cote Ronde is a mid red in the glass. Aromas, moderately strong, speak of plums and dusty violet. On the palate, this comes across as young in its sandy tannins. They wrap a plummy, deep blackberry core. Full of stuffing. Plenty of time to sit and mature. Three stars now, with a plus because I'm counting on bigger things from it for the future.  read more »

Louis Bernard Chateauneuf Du Pape 2005 Wine Review (NW)

Tasting notes:

Hot nose burns off to reveal cherry, red licorice, and cinnamon
Full-bodied on the palate
Finish of prune, herbs, and some lingering spice

I like the Chateauneuf du Pape wines I've sampled from recent years. Many of them are loaded with fruit and spice. Chateauneuf's generally have a unique quality and are based on a unique tradition of blending many different grapes including Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault, and many others.  read more »

Greetings from all of us in New London, We have a fine selection of wines for this Friday night, the list is just below our news and information. This is a busy week here in New London. The annual Spring Food Stroll is on Wednesday and it is Commencement weekend for Connecticut College. We want to give a special thank you to Roger Hoadley from Slocum & Sons. Many of you got to met him last Friday night. Our favorite rascal of the wine trade poured with distinction and made lots of new friends at last weeks tasting. And this week Jim Morrison returns from the vineyards of Argentina - and he should be rested, clean & sober by show time on Friday. I hope you will join us to welcome him back. And a special thank you this week to all of you. Our friends and customers have been taking the time to send comments and suggestions that are vey important to us and we appreciate it.  read more »

Domaine La Roquete Chateauneuf du Pape 2003 wine review by (PB)

(NW) broke out this Chateauneuf du Pape which is primarily a GSM blend(Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre). The hue is a light medium red with slight bricking (amber notes) at the rim. This wine has sweet aromas of fruity tobacco with sheets of nuanced fruit and a periodic strip of sweet fresh strawberry jam. Wonderful and absolutely peak!  read more »
